Bristol Rhythm and Roots 5k

Bristol Rhythm and Roots is one of our favorite weekends of the year!

This 5k is the first 5k I ran Doug drug me through.  So if at all possible I like to run it, just to keep a yearly tab on my progress.

If you recall I was sick for some time before this race, remember my Eastman Road Race - no race?!  Yeah, I was sick for about 10 days before the BRRR 5k.

Unfortunately, Doug opted out of running it this year.  But I found my friend Amy and we ran together.  She is faster than me (A LOT FASTER) but is pregnant and under doctor's orders has to watch her heart rate.  I thought this would be a good time for slow poke Jennie to have a great pacer!

It worked out well!

Our first mile was great at 9:04!  FAST FOR ME!  It even felt good!  Amy and I chatted for a bit and probably drove some other runners mad.  But no one tripped us, so that was good!

Mile two was just as great at 9:29.  There might have been a decent hill in there to slow us down!

We looped around by the start line about mile 1.8ish and Mickey Baker snapped this photo of us!  See we were still smiling!

I'm now disappointed to say that I did walk for about 50 seconds around mile 2.4.  I mean come on, I was about finished.  But the combination of "hacking a hair ball" and no water stations just got to me.

After that small recovery period I went on to finish strong and walk away with a  29:26 5k!  My best BRRR 5k yet!

And I got this nice email from SFTC:
