Speaking of those friends!

Brandie just shared this with me.

Laughed my butt off!

So true my friend, so true!

Impromptu Friends

As we adventure through life friends have wandered in and out.  Friends vary through life as our activities and interest change.

Today I am thankful for our current GNO group and their husbands!

This is who I am referring to:

Brandie and Rocky

Brandie and I actually spent the majority of our teenage years together.  High School that is.  We cheered together, we rode around together, got snow cones together, and I'm sure there are many more stories of our teenage adventures together.

We lost touch somewhere after graduation.

But a few years ago another friend moved home from out west.  Via facebook we tried to all three reconnect.  It turned into several GNO planned for three, turning into just Brandie and I.  We finally realized friend #3 wasn't interested in us, and that we both had awesome husbands.  So why not just hang together?

Kristen (and Josh)

Again, Kristen and I spent a few of our teenage years together.  We didn't cause as much trouble as Brandie and I did, but it was still the same school, the same soccer team, the same clicks, and the same drama.

After Doug and I started running and registering races, we started noticing familiar faces.  Kristen was one of them!  We seemed to have the same interest in tortures races.

Last September at the Eastman Road Race we pulled each other through our longest race yet!  The next weekend we saw each other at Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion's 5k.

Later that night we had a few adult beverages together and plotted becoming running buddies; and our first half-marathon.

Kristina (and Rob)

We actually met Rob first, at the YMCA during a cross training class of sorts.  Rumor around class was he had a pretty awesome counter part.  Then we ran into them at a birthday party, and who knew the guys would get a long too?!

That was 2010? 2011?  I'm not sure, I just keep count by how many navy seal challenges they've told us about!

So if you were ever curious about our friends, who, what, where, and why in the world - there's some insight!

Now onto making more memories!

2012 Eastman Road Race Review

Well - not much a review from the 10k.

But let me tell you about the youth fun runs, specifically the 4-5 year old's 150 yard dash!

All summer our nephew, Landon, has asked to run with us.  So I figured there's no better race than the Eastman Road Race's Youth Runs.  He'd be running with the 4-5 year old's and doing a 150 yard dash.

So his Dad registered him, and we started training.  He'd run the lamp posts on the local bike path.

He was so excited!

I knew I'd have to pick up my packet for the 10k on Friday night, so picking Landon up from school just made sense.

All plans were in motion, everyone was excited, and then I got sick.  A nasty infection that knocked me out of work for a few days, an antibiotic, and no running.  There was no way I was running through this.  I still had hope on Friday, even though I knew deep down it wasn't happening.  But I knew Landon had to run, he was too excited.  And who am I to let down my cute little nephew!?

When I picked him up he was thrilled!

He'd even gotten the privilege of bringing his class pet home for the weekend; Boomer.  The assignment for the weekend was to feed and care for Boomer, take pictures, and write in his journal about what Boomer did all weekend .

So it came as no surprise when Landon wanted Boomer to run with him.

Here are some pictures and a video, Enjoy!

Packet Pick Up!

Checking out his first race shirt!
