Open Letter Tuesday!

This post was originally titled, in my head, as Open Letter Thursday.  I narrated it on my run last night, which happened to be Monday.  It wasn’t until the last mile of my run that I realized I was titling the post Thursday, when it was Monday.  Oh well.

So here is my Open Letter, on Tuesday:

Dear Local Park Goers’ –

As I ran through the local park tonight, I noticed how inconsiderate you can be.  I would like to list a few things that happened for me to form this opinion:
  • Meandering in a pack, which covers the entire trail, while everyone in the group is smoking.  This is no fun for runners.
  • Speaking loudly on your cell phone.  We are in the park, let’s be one with nature like the rainbow people.
  • Teenage bikers, not cyclists, weaving in and out, and in between people.  This is dangerous and rude.
  • Letting your, diaper clad, toddler run freely on the trail with no supervision from you.   Again, this is dangerous and rude.
  • Taking your three small children to the bathroom, allowing each of them to lock themselves in individual stalls, scream at the top of their lungs, all while you stand there screaming at them and smoking.  Unacceptable.
  • Speeding through a local park.  The speed limit is not 50 mph.
  • Revving your obviously illegal exhaust, and then slowing so that you can whistle at runners, then slamming on the gas to leave.  Again, unacceptable.

Yes, my friends these are some things observed and unappreciated at the local park.  Please be more considerate to those around you next time you visit.

Sincerely –
Your Friendly Runner
